Warm and Inviting
Entry,
porch, landscaping and lighting on the front of the home
sets the mood. The lighting should not draw attention to
itself but to the home, its features and focal points.
When
choosing lighting fixtures, choose a size that is
appropriate for the location and the size of the home.
Large homes and double story ones can handle larger
light fixtures. Smaller homes, and single-story homes,
generally looked best with medium or little smaller
lighting fixtures.
-
Style of lighting should also be appropriate for the
architectural style of the home. Colonial light
fixtures do not fit the modern style of home, their
most appropriate for Colonial style of home.
-
The
color of the glass in the fixture, likewise impacts
the looks of the home. Clear or white glass
provides crispness and detailed to homes painted
white, gray and bright colors such as red. Softer
looks are achieved by using amber or stone colored
glass. Homes with stone facades, tan or taupe
colors benefit from softer looks.
