Epoxy and Painted Floors
Epoxy floors can be done by the seller with
little effort. Go by a paint store or home
improvement center and look over the choices of
colors and read the installation instructions.
Car dealer show rooms and builders use this
method a lot.
If your garage
floor has large or offset cracks in the
concrete, they may mirror through the paint or
epoxy, drawing unwanted attention to the
cracking. Professional epoxy contractors can
usually solve this issue and you will come out
with a beautiful floor and be rid of the
unsightly cracks.
Tile Floors
Vinyl and other synthetic floor tile go down
easily and are stunning. One of the more popular
patterns is a black and white checkered board
pattern. Psychologically tied to the checkered
flag when winning a race like the "Indianapolis
500." Having a great looking floor will make
your home a "Winner."
Carpet Floors
Indoor -outdoor
carpeting goes down easily and looks great.
At times a upgraded carpet is used in 2 or 3 car
garages in just one bay where a workout gym or
small play type area is located. Carpet goes
down easily and cracks are less obvious or
covered. Naturally any covered cracks should be
disclosed to the buyer. Word of caution. Carpet
is not approved for garage floors by building
departments because it is a fire hazard when on
a garage floor. Also no cars should be allowed
to park on the carpet for fire and safety
reasons. The carpet is only for show.
Stain the
concrete floor
Similar to paint, special stains are
manufactured to go onto concrete floors. Often
penetrating into the concrete with less chance
to peel off or be damaged by hot car tires.
These are easy to apply and can be done very
rapidly. As with painted or epoxy floors it is
important to read and follow all manufactures
installation instructions. Another important
part of floor covering materials is the
preparation of the floor prior to installing the
covering material.
