Gone in 40 Seconds

3 Things you never see in a model home

Coffee makers, toasters or microwaves are never seen on the counter tops.

Impossible, it just doesn't make sense to put the coffeemaker away every day.  It's something that's used every single day.  Well let's think about it.  I timed how long it takes me to empty out the leftover coffee, dispose of the wet coffee filter and put my coffeemaker away under a cabinet.  It took 40 seconds.  That's less time than I spend at a red light on my way to work.  Can you do it?  Sure.

Dirty dishes are never in the sink.

Unsightly, dirty dishes in the sink sends the message that this is a dirty house, even if it's not.  After every meal dishes should be washed and put away or placed in the dishwasher.  You never know when unexpected buyer will show up.  Be ready.

Lights are never turned off.

Lights should always be on when prospective buyers may drop by.  Yes, this means that even during the day while you're gone, the lights should be on, especially on the weekends.  Oh yes, I know your electric bill will be another $2.20 higher for the month, but its well worth it to show your kitchen in the best possible light.
